announcedtodaythatitwouldextendtheSpaceportCamdenDraftEnvironmentalImpact
Statement(EIS)commentperioduntilJune14,2018.Afterhearingcommentsfromthe
communityandthedesireforresidentstotakepartinthisimportantprocess,theCamdenCounty
BoardofCountyCommissionersformallyrequestedtheFAAextendthetotalcommentperiodto
90daysonlastThursday.TheFAAgrantedthisextensionthismorning.
“CamdenCountyiscommittedtoarobustduediligenceprocessandencouragespublic
participationinoureffortstoobtainalaunchsiteoperator’slicensefromtheFAA,”saidSteve
Howard,CamdenCountyAdministratorandSpaceportCamdenProjectLead.“Wewantto
ensurethatallinterestedparties,eventhosethatmaynotliveinCamdenCounty,areableto
participateinthisprocessandtheFAAhasacompleterecordinwhichtobaseitsdecision.”
TheFAAwillholdtwopublichearingsinCamdenCountytopresentthefindingsfromthedraft
EISandtoreceivepubliccomments.Thedatesforthosehearingshavenotchangedandarestill
scheduledforApril11andApril12from5:30to8:30PMattheCamdenCountyPublicService
AuthorityRecreationCenter,locatedat1050WildcatDriveinKingsland.Thepublichearingswill
includeanopenhouseandpostersession,FAApresentation,andformalpubliccommentperiod.
