CategoryAchievementAwardentrytitled“BrushTruckandTankerRetrofitProgramthroughaPublic-
PublicPartnership”hasbeenselectedasoneofthe100BrilliantIdeasatWorkbytheNational
AssociationofCounties(NACo).Theawardshonorinnovative,effectivecountygovernmentprograms
thatenhanceservicesforresidents.
Earlierthisyear,NACoannounced“BrilliantIdeasatWork”asthethemeforthisyear’sNationalCounty
GovernmentMonth.AllofNACo’s100BrilliantIdeaswillbesharedonNACo’swebsitetheweekofJune
5,andacomprehensive,interactiveonlinepublicationwillbelaunchedattheAnnualConferenceonJuly
22"toserveasanimportantresourceforcountiespursuingsimilarobjectives.
TheCamdenCountyFireRescueDepartmentpartneredwiththeGeorgiaForestryCommissionthrough
theRuralFireDefenseleaseprogramtopurchasethree(3)formermilitarytrucks.Thesetruckswere
retrofittedtobecomecombinationbrushandtankertruckstoaidtheCamdenCountyFireRescuein
fightingforestandbrushfires.Afterthecostofretrofittingthetrucks,CamdenCountywasabletosave
approximately$650,000.TheadditionofthesetruckstotheCounty’sfleetwilllowervehiclemaintenance
costs,providesaferequipment,andimproveresponsetimesforCamdenCountycitizens.
CamdenCountywillberecognizedbyNACoPresidentBryanDeslogeatareceptiononJuly22,2017,
aspartofthe2017AnnualConferenceandExpositioninFranklinCounty(Columbus),Ohio.

practice,”saidCamdenCountyAdministratorSteveHoward.“Thehonorofsharingideaswithother
countygovernmentsreinforcesthehighqualityofservicethatweprovidetotheresidentsofCamden
