CamdenCountywebsitetoassistuserswithmakingeducateddecisionsaboutpotentialflooding.
Approximately35%or17,000ofCamdenCounty’sresidentslivewithinthe100-yearfloodplain.
ThreecoastalriversflowthroughtheCounty,and50%ofthelandisclassifiedaswetlands.
Camdenexperiencestheeffectsofsealevelrise,stormsurge,regularriverineflooding,andking
tides.
TheFloodAwarenessTool,orFloodRiskApp,ispartoftheCamdenCounty‘RiseReady’coastal
resiliencetoolkit.Theonlinetoolisdesignedtohelpplanningofficials,decisionmakers,and
currentandfutureresidentsmakeinformeddecisionstoprepareforandreducetheimpactsof
flooding.Thisappisnotintendedtoprovidereal-timefloodingrisksorevacuationinformationor
substituteforengaginglocalcityorcountyfloodplainmanagementofficeorofficials.
CamdenCountypromotescurrentandfutureresidentsusingtheFloodRiskAppto:
eKnowYourRisk:Understandgeneralfloodriskbybringingtogetherlocalinfrastructureand
landusedatawithcurrentandfuturefloodriskdata,includingsealevelriseprojections;
eVisualizeRisk:Comprehensivefloodriskmapshelpbringawarenessandpromotesmart
landuseplanning,propertypurchasing,orrenovationdecisions;and
eReduceRisk:Providesactionablestepstoreducefloodrisk,prepareforextremeweather
events,andlocalresourcesthatcanhelp.
