HowardannouncedtodaythatMarkPatrick,theCountyEngineerfortheNewtonCountyBoard
ofCommissionershasbeenhiredasthenewPublicWorksDirectorforCamdenCounty.Inthis
role,Mr.Patrickwillberesponsiblefordutiestoinclude,butnotlimitedto:themaintenance,repair,
andminorconstructionoftheCountytransportationsystem,aswellas,drainagemaintenance
andmanagement.
Mr.Patrickhasover30yearsofexperienceasanengineerincludingoveradecadeofexperience
inlocalgovernment.InadditiontohistenureinNewtonCounty,PatrickservedastheCity
EngineerfortheCityofMilledgeville,Georgia,andtheAssistantPublicWorksDirectorforAthens-
ClarkeCounty.Previously,Patrickwasself-employedasanengineer,concentratingonsite
developmentandsubdivisionplans.

Mr.PatrickhasaBachelorofScienceinCivilEngineeringfromtheGeorgiaInstituteofTechnology
andisregisteredinGeorgiaasbothaProfessionalEngineerandaLandSurveyor.Hefillsthe
vacancyfromtheretirementofformerdirectorHarveyAmerson.HisnewrolewillbegininCamden
CountyonMarch11,2019.
