theCamdenCountyBoardofCommissionersapprovedtherequesttoauthorizeAmerican
RescuePlanAct(ARPA)fundstotemporarilypayridershipfeesfortheCoastalRegionalCoaches
inCamdenCounty.
“Thisisanexcellentopportunitytoassistourneighborsthatneedtransportationsupport,”said
GaryBlount,Chairman,CamdenCountyBoardofCommissioners.“Weareproudtopartnerwith
theCityofSt.Marystoprovidefundingforridershipfeesforourlocalresidents.”
Theapprovalincludesutilizing$10,000oftheover$10.6millioninARPAfundsprovidedto
CamdenCounty.Bypayingtheridershipfees,CamdenCountyisprovidingfreeaccessfor
essentialservicesincluding,butnotlimitedto,healthappointments,employmentservices,and
foodsecurity.PriorityuseofthefundssetbytheU.S.DepartmentoftheTreasury’sinterimfinal
ruleonARPAfundinginclude:
esupportingthepublichealthresponse,
eaddressnegativeeconomicimpacts,and
eequity-focusedservices.
TheCoastalRegionalCoaches,operatedbytheCoastalRegionalCommission,providedoor-to-
doorserviceswithinCamdenCountyfor$3.00pertrip.The$10,000contributedbytheCamden
CountyBoardofCommissionerswasmatchedbytheCityofSt.Marys,foratotalof$20,000.This
amountnearlyequalsalloftheridershipfeesspentbyCamdenCountyridersin2020.
