(GEMA)hasrecognizedCamdenCountyEmergencyManagementAgency(EMA)asmeetingall
incentivestandardsoutlinedbyGEMAandtheFederalEmergencyManagementAgency(FEMA).
“AchievingthishighlevelofemergencypreparednessforCamdenCountyisateameffortthat
involves,thepublic,ourbusinesscommunity,churches,othernon-profitorganizations,county
andcitygovernmentsincludingtheCamdenCountySchoolSystem,andNavalSubmarineBase
KingsBay,”saidEmergencyManagementAgencyDirectorChuckWhite.
ThissignificantaccomplishmentrequiresCamdenCountytomeetahighlevelofreadiness
capability,training,andresources.CamdenCountyEMAmustcontinuetosustainthislevelof
operationalreadinesstoensurethecountyispreparedforanydisaster,whilebenefitingfinancially
fromthisprogrammaticcompliance.
ThereisafinancialbenefitforthisachievementduringadeclareddisasterundertheRobertT
StaffordAct.OriginallyCamdenCountywouldberesponsiblefor25%ofa75/25costshare
award,however,meetingtheincentivestandardsmakesCamdenCountyeligibletoreceive12%
ofthe25%fromStatefunding.Additionally,continuedcompliancemakesCamdenCountyEMA
eligibleforanumberofState/FederalGrants.
“CamdenCounty’sEmergencyManagementstaffcontinuestodemonstratededicationto
preparednessactionsforourcounty,”saidChairmanGaryBlount.“Theplanningactionstakenin
advanceofanemergencysituationmakeCamdenCountyasaferandmoreresilientplaceto
live.”
