CamdenCountyBoardofCommissionersunanimouslyvotedtoacceptadeedforalanddonation
fromSoutheastGeorgiaHealthSystemfortheconstructionofanewCamdenCountyHealth
Department.
“OurcommunitypartnersatSoutheastGeorgiaHealthSystemhaveprovidedanexcellent
locationforusersoftheCamdenCountyHealthDepartment,”saidCommissionChairmanGary
Blount.“Thisisanexcellentexampleofcollaborationtomakethisnewfacilityareality.”
Theprojectcostforthenewfacilityis$4.5million.Fundingisprovidedby:
SpecialPurposeLocalOptionSalesTax(SPLOST)VIIIfor$1.2million;

CommunityDevelopmentBlockGrantCOVID(CDBG-CV)for$1million;

eAmericanRescuePlanAct(ARPA)fundingfrom
CamdenCountyfor$387,600

CityofKingslandfor$378,840

CityofSt.Marysfor$399,960,and

CityofWoodbinefor$33,600
o
CoastalGeorgiaPublicHealthfor$800,000;and

Women,Infants,andChildren(WIC)for$300,000.

ThenewfacilityshouldopeninDecember2023.The$1.2millionininSPLOSTVIIIfundingwas
approvedbyCamdenCountyvotersinMarch2019.Thisone-centsalestaxispaidbyallresidents
andvisitorsthatpurchasegoodsinCamdenCounty.SPLOSTVIIIbegancollectioninJuly2019
andconcludesinJune2025.
