todayannouncesitsintentiontoreducethecounty-wideGeneralFundmillagerateforasecond
consecutiveyear.
Theproposedmillageratefor2022is14.201
mills,afullrollbackreductionfromthecurrentCAMDENCOUNTY
rateof15.562.Thisrollbackrateisa1.361
millsreductionor8.7%lessthanthecurrent
rate.TheUnincorporatedTaxDistrictwillalso
takethefullrolloackreducingthemillagerate
from1.35to1.275.Adoptionofthe2022
millageratesistentativelyscheduledfor
October4,2022.
Asaresultofthisreduction,propertyownerswhosevaluesstayedthesamefrom2021to2022
orhavehomesteadexemptionfreezewillseeareducedbillfortheCountyportionoftheirproperty
taxes.Whenconsideringa14.201operatingmillagerate,theannualtaxbillforahomewitha
valueof$200,000withhomesteadexemptionwouldbeloweredby$104.00.Propertytaxbillswill
bemailedtoallpropertyownerslaterthisyear.
“Despitethestaggeringinflationpressure,theBoardofCommissionerswasstillabletofully
rollbackthemillagerateduetoCamdenCounty’sstrongfinancialposition,”saidCounty
AdministratorSteveHoward.“TheCountyhas$0generalfunddebt,$0unfundedpension
liabilities,andappropriatereserves.”
