WOODBINE,Ga.April30,2020ThefinalphaseofthePublicSafetyRadioProject

isproceedingdespiteextensivedelaysrelatedtoStateandFederalpermitting,aswellasnational
impactfromtheCOVID-19CoronaVirus.
ThePublicSafetyRadioCommunicationsSystemincludesupgradestotheCamdenCountyE-
911Centeralongwiththreenewtowersandequipmentinstallationatafourthsitewithgoalof
providingcounty-widecoverageforallpublicsafetyradios,includingCamdenCountyFire
Rescue,CamdenCountySheriff'sOffice,KingslandFireandPoliceDepartments,andSt.Marys
FireandPoliceDepartments.
TheWoodbineToweristhelasttowerunderconstruction.Allothersitesaresubstantially
completeincludingtowersatFireStations15intheBrowntownareaofsouthwestCamdenCounty
andFireStation17inWaverlyinadditiontothenewinfrastructureandequipmentatCamden
CountyFireRescueHeadquartersonGrossRoadinKingsland.
“YearsofcollaborationandhardworkfromallofCamdenCounty’spublicsafetypartnersis
comingtofruitionwiththecompletionofthisfinaltower,”statedChuckWhite,Directorof
EmergencyManagement.“Wearehappytoimprovecommunicationswithourfirstresponders,
allowingustoprovideenhancedservicetoallCamdenCountyresidents.”
Thecompletionofthisprojectimprovescommunicationswhileensuringsurvivabilityduringsevere
weather.ThePublicSafetyRadioCommunicationsSystemreceivedfundingfrombothSPLOST
VilandSPLOSTVIII.
